Clean and Green: Duke Energy Issues Second Green Bond

Duke Energy Progress, a subsidiary of Duke Energy (NYSE: DUK), has completed its first issuance of $600 million in green bonds that will finance eligible green energy projects, including the development, construction and procurement of solar generation in the Carolinas.

General Motors Partners With DTE on Wind Energy in Michigan

As part of its commitment to increasing its renewable energy footprint globally and finding clean energy solutions near its operations, General Motors has partnered with DTE Energy for 300,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of wind energy in the state of Michigan. Once complete, the energy sourced will be enough to power 100 percent of the electricity needs of GM’s global technical center in Warren and its Detroit-based operations at the Renaissance Center. The 300,000 MWh are equivalent to the amount of power consumed by nearly 30,000 U.S. households per year.

Consumers Energy Announces Plans to Develop Solar Power Plant in Cadillac

Consumers Energy announced today that it plans to develop its third solar power plant in Cadillac, building on its Triple Bottom Line commitment to people, the planet and Michigan’s prosperity. The Cadillac City Council this week approved an agreement to allow Consumers Energy to place solar panels on the Mitchell-Bentley property, a currently vacant site with a manufacturing history that dates to the late 1800s.

Republic Services’ landfills aren’t just collecting trash, they can also produce renewable energy. Today, we’re capturing landfill gas and converting it to electricity and fuel. We also are utilizing closed landfills to generate solar electricity. Through these efforts, we’re converting previously unused resources into power for homes, businesses and vehicles – including our own collection trucks.

Consumers Energy Sets Goals for Smart Energy District in Jackson, Including 40 Percent On-Site Renewable Energy

Consumers Energy today announced its goals for the Jackson Smart Energy District, an efficient, affordable, clean energy hub in its hometown. The Jackson Smart Energy District aims to achieve 2040 Clean Energy goals 15 to 20 years early -- including producing 40 percent of the District’s energy needs from on-site renewable sources.
