Advancing STEM Education
UTC inspires students to embrace science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). We support the development of the next generation of engineers, scientists, and finance professionals by sponsoring primary school to university-level programs that spark students’ interest and inspire innovation.
FIRST Robotics. In 2013, UTC supported 73 high school robotics teams from the United States, Canada and China with team grants and more than 100 employee mentors. In addition to serving as a lead sponsor of the FIRST World Championship, UTC was the title sponsor of the Connecticut Regional and a sponsor of the North Carolina Regional. Junior Achievement. Nearly 300 UTC employees have volunteered in schools across the country through “JA In A Day”. UTC volunteers leverage a $1.3 million grant that helped create STEM-specific fifth-grade curriculum.
Mystic Aquarium. Mystic Aquarium’s new Ocean Exploration Center, made possible with a $1 million UTC grant, highlights the history of human undersea exploration.
