On World Elephant Day, a Victory for Wildlife

Elephant populations across the globe are threatened due to habit loss and poaching, but on World Elephant Day, celebrated last week on August 12, the beleaguered giants​ and other animals​ have something to celebrate as leading e-commerce and social media companies came together to take action on the sale of illegal wildlife products all over the world.

eBay, Etsy, Gumtree, Microsoft, Pinterest, Tencent and Yahoo! agreed to adhere to a global, standardized wildlife policy framework in collaboration with World Wildlife Fund (WWF), TRAFFIC and International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).
