BATON ROUGE, La., September 13, 2022 /3BL Media/ – Over 200 Southern University students will participate in a full day of career readiness sessions at the Baker Hughes Leadership Summit on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, with an emphasis on entrepreneurship, personal branding and networking.

This year’s summit has grown to reach more students with the help of a grant awarded to the university in 2021 from the Baker Hughes Foundation as part of its long-running mission to promote education and opportunity in the communities where Baker Hughes employees live and work. Several Baker Hughes employees, some of them SU alumni, will lead sessions and coordinate the career fair that follows.

“The Baker Hughes Foundation, alongside my colleagues in the Black Employee Network, are delighted to help bring to life this event at Southern,” said Nicole Durham, Baker Hughes chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer. “This event is an important expansion of the educational partnerships Baker Hughes has with Historically Black College and Universities, and I look forward to helping grow the careers and lives of those who will help steward our path forward.”

Students will meet in small groups to help develop their personal brand, learn how to launch businesses and connect with potential customers. The grant and the summit align with Baker Hughes’ strategy of building the energy workforce of the future and promoting a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace.
