(3BL Media) July, 17, 2012 - In response to recent wildfires in the western U.S., Sanofi’s humanitarian aid partner Direct Relief activated its emergency response to more than 13 community-based nonprofit health clinics in Colorado. The fires have destroyed hundreds of homes and forced more than 30,000 people in Colorado alone to evacuate in the last few weeks.

Because Sanofi's participation in Direct Relief’s U.S. Disaster Relief Preparedness Program, the organization was able to immediately release warehouse-stored Lantus®, Apidra®, Amaryl®, Diabeta®, Aplenzin®, Lasix® and Phisohex® to clinics serving patients in need instead of waiting for individual requests to be processed. Sanofi US has partnered with Direct Relief, a global, non-profit aid organization, since 2006, providing more than $21 million in product contributions.
