Local organization Vet Your Pet was chosen by the community to receive the first Republic Rewards Community Grant.
"This is a program we are rolling out nationwide," said Doug McFarland, general manager of Republic Services for Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri. "Mt. Vernon was one of four pilot spots for the Republic Rewards grant program."
