(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) NEW YORK CITY, NY—THURSDAY, MARCH 31, 2011—Recyclebank®, the company that rewards people for taking everyday green actions with discounts and deals from more than 3,000 local and national businesses, announced today that Chief Revenue Officer Samantha Skey will discuss how to use social currency to encourage consumer behavior change in a panel at the upcoming Physic Ventures-Edelman Social Media Summit. In keeping with Physic Ventures’ mission of “investing in keeping people healthy,” the invitation-only event aims to examine how technology, marketing and Fortune 500 companies can use social media to improve the health of individuals, communities and the planet.

In the session “The Social Network: Facing Off with Facebook,” Skey and her fellow panelists will offer observations on the state of Facebook as today’s leading social network as well as provide examples of successful health and sustainability-related campaigns conducted through the site. Drawing from more than 15 years of experience in social and digital marketing, Skey will specifically discuss how social networks like Facebook can serve as a consumer engagement tool – not only as places to share with friends but also to inspire consumers to take small, everyday green actions that make a large, collective environmental impact.   At Recyclebank, Skey develops marketing campaigns for brand partners such as Unilever, S.C. Johnson and Kashi that engage and inspire consumers to take environmentally preferred actions as a means to promote sustainable consumption and foster brand loyalty.
