OAKLAND, Calif., November 16, 2017 /3BL Media/ - Net Impact, the leading global nonprofit that mobilizes the next generation to use their skills and careers to make a positive impact on the world, released the 2017 Chapter of the Year winners, a designation awarded to one outstanding Chapter in each of the undergraduate, graduate, international and professional Chapter segments. This year’s award went to the Net Impact Chapters at Texas State McCoy College (undergraduate), UCLA Anderson School of Business (graduate), IIT Kharagpur (international) and the New York City Professional Chapter.

The Chapters of the Year are those that exemplify dedication to Net Impact’s mission through dynamic events, programming, and partnerships. Each year, Net Impact selects finalists from a pool of over 340 undergraduate, graduate, international, and professional Chapters that achieved Gold Status. The finalists presented videos showcasing the year's activities and highlights to a panel of seven judges, comprised of four Net Impact staff members and three board members. They were selected based on the impact of activities, network contribution, collaboration, and leadership.

Highlights of chapter accomplishments include:

  • The Texas State Undergraduate Chapter led many Net Impact Central programs including NI Local, Better Money Habits, and the UniGames, in additional to original programs they developed in partnership with local government and organizations related to mobility, urbanization, food, and carbon.
  • The UCLA Anderson Chapter launched a student-led impact investing fund and program, hosted an annual Impact Week, and helped to facilitate regional collaboration in the Los Angeles area.
  • The IIT Kharagpur International Chapter was a founding International Hub this year, helping to launch new regional Chapters in India while continuing to lead pro-bono consulting projects and personal development programs.
  • The New York Professional Chapter served 33 nonprofits with 250 members on 12-week consulting projects and continued to serve as a leading thought-partner for Net Impact Central during the planning of new initiatives and strategies.

“The winners of the Net Impact Chapter of the Year awards epitomize the passion, innovation, and dedication our community of change agents have in making an impact on social and environmental sustainability across their campuses and communities,” says Xouhoa Bowen, Net Impact’s Associate Director of Chapters.
