Keysight is helping to build a better planet by accelerating innovation to connect and secure the world and employing a global business framework of ethical, environmentally sustainable, and socially responsible operations. Three core principles underscore this commitment:

  • Keysight has long supported environmental sustainability.
  • Social responsibility is a key value of the Keysight Leadership Model and is at the core of our DNA.
  • One of our top priorities is mitigating the impacts of climate change and leaving a healthier planet for future generations.

These principles align with Earth Day. With this year’s theme, Invest In Our Planet, Earth Day calls on all of us to solve the climate crisis, create a prosperous and sustainable future, and restore nature to build a healthy planet for future generations.

Net zero emissions for a sustainable future

Keysight’s net zero emissions goal demonstrates our commitment to limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius per the Paris Agreement framework. This pursuit is in line with our company’s values:

  • Keysight will help mitigate environmental, societal, and economic impacts of climate change
  • Keysight is an industry leader, and we continuously deliver value to our stakeholders.
  • A goal of net zero emissions in company operations provides certainty about the company’s strategic direction in environmentally sustainable operations.

Keysight will achieve net zero emissions in company operations by the end of fiscal year 2040. This will be accomplished through energy efficiency and conservation, investment in renewable energy, and selective purchase of certified offsets to neutralize any residual emissions. The best way to accomplish this goal is through energy efficiency and conservation and transitioning to renewable energy sources.

Using science-based targets (SBTs) is the best way to measure progress in greenhouse gas emissions reduction and to ensure targets are consistent with the latest climate change scenarios. Because of this, Keysight has committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). In addition to operational emissions defined by our net zero goal, we will work with the SBTi to develop approved SBTs across all relevant categories of emissions.

Keysight progress towards net zero goal

In support of our net zero commitments, we are covering the rooftops of all eight buildings at the Bayan Lepas site in Penang, Malaysia with solar panels. This is the largest solar power generation system for Keysight globally and the largest industry rooftop photovoltaic (PV) system in Penang. It is a 5.8 megawatt (MW) peak solar installation, creating approximately 7.9 million kWh of energy annually, which is more than 16 percent of the total current annual energy consumption at the site. It will reduce the equivalent of approximately 5,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions in the first year and more than 95,000 metric tons over 20 years.

Solar film was recently installed at our Corporate Headquarters in Santa Rosa, CA. Approximately, 27,000 square feet of film was installed on 738 window panels. Project benefits include solar heat gain reduction in warmer months reducing the cooling load, along with heat loss prevention in cooler months as the film can reduce the transmission of heat through the window glass. The estimated electricity savings is 482,000 kWh and estimated natural gas savings of 16,000 therms. The project will reduce the equivalent of approximately 203 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions over the first year.

Keysight Technologies Malaysia recently installed a food waste composting machine that is capable of turning cafeteria food waste into compost without any chemical additives. This cost-effective machine is helping to reduce landfills and eliminate the trucking of the waste to the central disposal facility, which will reduce carbon emissions. The compost produced by the machine is used as fertilizer for gardening and landscaping at Keysight.

To reinforce our commitment to Earth Day and our environmental sustainability performance, we encourage site-specific actions across our more than 100 locations and encourage our employees to take simple actions daily that can help Keysight achieve its goals.

Investing in Our Planet—together, we can make a difference.
