Innovation: Critical Component to Sustainable Development

With the debate around climate change and the need for business sustainability action still on-going, it is understandable that companies and individuals may not be boldly communicating their business sustainability plan and future programs.  So the question becomes: What is it going to take to reach the tipping-point and initiate mainstream business sustainability action?

In a recent article, the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) describes the roll innovation could play in sustainable economic growth of a rebounding economy.  To quote OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría:
 
“Knowledge is the main driver of today’s global economy.  Countries need to harness innovation and entrepreneurship to boost growth and employment. This is the key to a sustainable rise in living standards.”
