ICMM appoints René Aguilar Sáez as new Director of Health and Safety

ICMM has appointed René Aguilar Sáez as its new Director of Health and Safety. Mr Aguilar, who has been Corporate Safety & Occupational Health Manager at Codelco Chile for 11 years, will be taking up his new position at ICMM on 8 May 2012.
René will lead the ICMM Health and Safety team as they continue preparations for the 2012 Health and Safety Conference in Santiago, Chile. Member companies will come together at the conference to share successes and challenges and learn best practices from one another. In addition to his 11 years at Codelco, René was appointed as a second officer responsible for the successful rescue operation at the San José mine in Chile where 33 workers were trapped underground in 2010. René acted as the co-ordination link between the rescue’s technical teams and the government mining and health authorities gathered at the site.
