HGTV’s special preview of Catastrophe, Inc. this Sunday night will include the story of Jason and Holly Trice, whose house was damaged due to a violent thunderstorm. A brand new porch and front door was part of the clean-up effort by the Catastrophe, Inc. team.

The devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy this week in the Northeast has been nothing short of historic. Many of us here at Scripps Networks Interactive have witnessed on television from afar the unfolding of Sandy’s wrath, while others in our New York City and Chevy Chase, Md. offices have experienced a first-hand account of her destruction.

A crisis such as Sandy delivers something else though – a reminder of how powerful the American spirit is. Sandy feels close to all of us because of her effect on some of us. Sadly, we’ve learned of a few SNI employees who have lost their homes due to wind, water or fire. But for every employee affected by the storm, we’ve seen countless others lend a helping hand and take in their fellow colleagues.
