Sustainability Update

Now our engagement within this field is recognized in a current report, Sustainable Apparel´s Critical Blind Spot, by the Chinese NGO Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (IPE). This is the second report IPE issues on the subject of brands work on pollution in their supply chain in China and brand’s responses to IPE’s questions on this topic. H&M’s dedicated work in China is regarded as a very good case in the industry and we are ranked at the very top of the list.

- This is both evidence of the results we are achieving with the work we are doing in our supply chain and a good case of proactive stakeholder interaction, says Helena Helmersson, Head of Sustainability at H&M.

In their report, IPE declares that H&M is not only using environmental information disclosed by the Chinese government to manage their supply chain. IPE also states that since the release of their first report H&M have made excellent progress and proactively looked into all the cases that IPE raised. H&M have now set a bench-mark for good practice by providing IPE with a quarterly report on results and follow-up actions. IPE hope that other brands could follow these good examples and look forward to more leading work from H&M in the future.
