Speaking of Sanofi

My name is Mike Sokol, and I joined Sanofi in 2013 as the VP of Employee Wellness.  I lead the team that is responsible for designing, implementing, and measuring our comprehensive and fully integrated health and wellness initiative for our employees and their families, called Health in Action, working collaboratively with my colleagues in US Health Benefits.

The goal is to create a culture of health by promoting a healthy work environment and providing our employees and dependents with the tools and resources we need to manage our health along the entire health care continuum.

I am a physician and executive with more than 20 years of professional experience, primarily in large healthcare corporations. As my post-graduate training and board certification are in preventive medicine, my primary interest is improving the health and well-being of populations.

Through my blog posts, my goal is to keep you updated on the progress we are making with the Health in Action program and other timely health issues that I believe will have an impact on our people and our business.

Today, I’m very excited to tell all of you that Sanofi US was named a gold winner of the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® award given by the National Business Group on Health (NBGH). We were recognized for the multi-faceted approach of our Health in Action program and the fact that we have comprehensive and well-integrated health and wellness programs for our employees covering the entire spectrum of wellness with both on-site and off-site resources.  We are one of only 63 U.S. employers to have won the 2014 award, and one of only 159 companies to have ever won this award since its inception in 2005.  This puts us in very elite company.

According to NBGH, “the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® awards recognizes those employers that have responded to the urgent need to improve their employees’ health, productivity and quality of life. The underlying goal of the program is to encourage all employers to take action.”

I’m very proud to work at a company that maintains such a strong commitment to the physical and mental well-being of its employees and family members, and I look forward to working with all you to build upon our initial successes and to continue to make Sanofi US such a wonderful place to work.

Warm regards, Dr. Mike
