(3BL Media) McLean, VA - April 25, 2012 - Last week, HandsOn Greater DC Cares presented Hilton Worldwide with the Volunteer Impact Award for Community Impact, highlighting the company's significant work in addressing the critical community needs of nonprofits, schools and community-based organizations through the strategic integration of philanthropy, team member volunteerism and in-kind support.

"We are gratified to receive this honor from Greater DC Cares," said Jennifer Silberman, vice president, corporate responsibility at Hilton Worldwide. "As a global hospitality company, Hilton Worldwide's more than 3,800 properties work together to strengthen communities everyday in 88 countries around the world.  The greater DC area is not only the home of our global corporate headquarters but also over 80 properties, and our team members are passionate about service and extending the culture of hospitality beyond our hotel walls. Organizations such as HandsOn Greater DC Cares are vital to supporting the private sector's ability to make meaningful contributions to local community needs."

The award highlights a variety of Hilton Worldwide's recent partnerships, including its work with Global Kids, to help support global education and develop the next generation of youth leaders for the global stage. The partnership directly impacts students and teachers at Columbia Heights Educational Campus and Friendship Collegiate Academy Public Charter School, The Academies at Anacostia, and Maya Angelou Public Charter School (MAPCS) and Evans High School through a range of programming.

Hilton Worldwide also partners with Alexandria, Virginia-based Good360, to support its 20 percent waste reduction goal by connecting hotels with opportunities to donate gently-used and surplus goods to organizations in need.

Finally, the award also recognizes Hilton Worldwide's corporate employees, who have been actively volunteering in the DC community with hundreds of team members participating in a variety of service events in the past year.

Hilton Worldwide team members are regular volunteers in the annual HandsOn DC Cares Servathon event and Hilton Worldwide was the title sponsor of the 2012 HandsOn Greater DC Cares Servathon.  On Friday, volunteers from Hilton Worldwide spent the day beautifying the Armed Forces Retirement Home, a community offering residential care and support services for retired veterans. In 2011, Hilton Worldwide launched Travel with Purpose, its commitment to providing shared value to its business and communities around the world. Travel with Purpose is built on four areas of focus -- creating opportunities for individuals to reach their full potential; strengthening communities where we operate; celebrating cultures and the power of travel; and living sustainability through the measurement, analysis and improvement of its use of natural resources. For more information on Hilton Worldwide's corporate responsibility initiative, visit www.HiltonWorldwide.com/corporate-responsibility/
