“Chevrolet is setting the bar when it comes to plug-in hybrid vehicles.” - Reed McManus, Senior Editor, Sierra Magazine (Sierra Club’s official magazine)

The Chevrolet Volt received the highest rating of plug-in hybrids in the Sierra Club’s annual Electric Vehicle Guide, a buyers’ guide for environmentally friendly EV drivers. The Volt received a 4 out of 5 rating in the guide, which compares the environmental impact of popular hybrid and all-electric vehicles.

The guide looks at several categories, including price, MPGe, range and miles between charges. The Sierra Club also provides tools for calculating fuel, emissions and cost savings of each vehicle. By entering your zip code into the Electric Vehicle Guide, users can customize the results to factor in state and local incentives.

This isn’t the first nod the 121-year-old environmental organization has given GM. Former Sierra Club executive director and chairman Carl Pope lauded GM’s signing of the Climate Declaration in a Huff Post Green article in May.
