As further testament to Honda’s commitment to reducing the environmental footprint of its operations, its wind turbines erected at Honda Transmission Mfg. of America last year are the subject of Honda’s latest entry in its Environmental Short Film Series, called Change Is In The Air.

More than 18 months after the landmark installation of two power-generating wind turbines on the property of HTM, the turbines continue to produce more power than officials had anticipated when the 260-foot towers went into operation in January of 2014.

The installation of the turbines, which are located at the Honda Transmission plant at Russells Point, Ohio, made the plant the first major automotive facility in the United States to receive a substantial amount of its power from on-site wind turbines.

Originally expected to provide approximately 10 percent of the plant’s annual power needs, the turbines outperformed company projections in nine of the 12 months of calendar year 2014, providing more than 12 percent of the plant’s electric needs for that time period.
