(3BL Media / theCSRfeed) November 21, 2011 - For the past fifteen years, the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) has been promoting cruelty-free goods through its Leaping Bunny Program. Founded November 19, 1996, CCIC was created to boost consumer awareness about shopping for cruelty-free cosmetics, household products, and personal care products. To celebrate this anniversary and the great progress made, CCIC and Leaping Bunny are sponsoring their biggest contest ever from now to the end of November 2011 through Facebook, giving away five large prize packages full of cruelty-free products donated from over 50 companies worth over $1,000 each.

Companies that pledge to avoid animal testing at all levels of the manufacturing process and agree to be open to independent auditing can license the Leaping Bunny Logo for their products, a logo increasingly recognized by consumers as one they can trust and want to support. In a recent poll conducted by ORC International, 67% of survey participants agreed that consumer products like cosmetics should not be tested on animals, and 60% of respondents are more likely to buy a product that has not been tested on animals.    Being Leaping Bunny certified means a lot to companies as well:   “We believe in developing products that are kind to the earth and safe for all of its inhabitants,” said Kim Chisholm, VP Marketing, Caldrea/Mrs. Meyers Clean Day. “Leaping Bunny is a friendly seal that helps consumers identify cruelty-free brands and products.”   “We’re really glad to be able to show our little bunny logo whenever we can – it instills a lot of faith in our users, and shows that Badger is a compassionate company that cares more about the reality than the marketing claim,” said Jentri Provenzano, Marketing Manager, W.S. Badger Company.   “Congratulations and Happy 15 Year Anniversary, Leaping Bunny! Urban Decay has been cruelty-free since we started in ’96 and we're celebrating our own 15 years of cruelty-free beauty alongside Leaping Bunny!” said Wende Zomnir, Creative Director, Urban Decay.   By standardizing the cruelty-free certification program and involving a growing list of companies to get involved in Leaping Bunny, CCIC has reduced confusion and helped promote the adoption of this important cause. Over the last 15 years, Leaping Bunny has grown rapidly, to now include nearly 400 companies. To help consumers find cruelty-free goods, CCIC also publishes and distributes the Compassionate Shopping Guide, making it available online, as an app on iPhones and Android phones, and also in a pocket-sized print version.   To celebrate fifteen years of achievement, CCIC is sponsoring a contest giving away products contributed by 50 Leaping Bunny certified companies, creating a box jammed full of cruelty-free goods from the following companies:
