Cascades Tissue Group Supports International Infection Prevention Week Events

WATERFORD, N.Y., October 21, 2013 /3BL Media/ – Cascades Tissue Group today announced that it has signed on as a sponsor of the Infection Prevention Awareness Campaign through the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). The goal of the program—which culminates with International Infection Prevention Week Oct. 20-26—is to help consumers become better informed and more knowledgeable about infection prevention.

Cascades’ commitment to the cause will be used to enable APIC chapters all over the country to teach hand hygiene to school children and to educate communities about proper cough and respiratory etiquette.

“We’re proud to support such a wonderful cause and help spread the word about proper hygiene practices, especially when it comes to simply washing hands and drying them with paper, the best way for improved hand hygiene,” said Suzanne Blanchet, CEO of Cascades Tissue Group. “When 80 percent of infections are transmitted by hand contact, it’s important that everyone knows what to do to help prevent it.”

In 2012, the company introduced the first-ever Cascades Antibacterial Paper Towel, which minimizes hand contamination by killing over 99.99 percent of harmful bacteria almost instantly unlike ordinary paper towels. The innovative towel can fit anywhere, doesn’t require additional steps and compensates for people’s imperfect hygiene habits without changing the way they wash or dry their hands. The Cascades Antibacterial Paper Towel has received esteemed accolades in the last year, such as an Edison Award in the Consumer Packaged Goods category in April and a “4-Star” Environmental Leader Technology Review Score in March.
