Caesars Foundation Announces More Than A Half Million Dollars in Giving For Second Quarter of 2014

LAS VEGAS, May 23, 2014 /3BL Media/ – Furthering its commitment to the communities in which Caesars Entertainment operates, Caesars Foundation is pleased to announce the approval of 17 grants totaling more than $500,000 as approved by the Foundation Board of Trustees for the second quarter of 2014. Caesars Foundation is funded by operating income and gifts from Caesars Entertainment and its resort properties. Grants were approved in Caesars Foundation’s strategic areas of focus including older individuals, education and sustainability.

Organizations receiving support include: Associated Black Charities in Baltimore, Md.; Baltimore City Foundation; Children’s Hope House, Fort Wayne, Ind.; Council Bluffs YMCA in Omaha, Neb.; Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; Goodwill of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas; Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs in Council Bluffs, IA; Heartland Family Services in Omaha, Neb.; Kliptown Youth Program in Kliptown, South Africa; National Association for Area Agencies on Aging; National Council on Aging; New Vista in Las Vegas; Second Harvest Food Bank in New Orleans, La.; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.; and YMCA of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas.

Additionally, Caesars Foundation approved a $150,000 grant to AARP Foundation for work dedicated to increasing awareness and support for ending senior hunger. The funds will be utilized by creating a tablet-based Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) enrollment project in collaboration with the Meals On Wheels Association of America. AARP currently facilitates SNAP enrollment in 15 states, and through those projects have assisted more than 20,200 older adults with SNAP application submissions in 2013.
