(3BL Media) June 19, 2012 - The American Cancer Society, in partnership with Wiley-Blackwell and Wiley Health Learning, has launched a new site for journal-based continuing education (CE) activities for select articles in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians (CA), a peer-reviewed journal of the Society. The new site is located at www.acsjournals.com/ce and all activities are offered free of charge to professionals, including physicians and nurses in primary care and oncology practices in community and academic practice settings.

The first activity, based on the article “Nutrition and Physical Activity Guidelines for Cancer Survivors” by Doyle et al, is currently available. Full details about the activity can be found on the CE website. A one-time registration will be required to access the activity.

The mission of the American Cancer Society Continuing Education Program is to provide accurate, timely, and relevant continuing education activities on CA journal articles that cover cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and palliation, in order to support the Society’s goals of decreasing cancer incidence and mortality, and improving quality of life for cancer survivors.

This offering improves upon the Society’s previous continuing education program. And just as with the earlier program, articles appropriate for a CE activity are chosen by the CE planning committee. CE activities receive no commercial support and all disclosures from contributors are fully listed on each activity.

Continuing medical education credit is available through Wiley-Blackwell’s accreditation with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and continuing nursing education contact hours are available through the Society’s accreditation with the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Blackwell Futura Media Services is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The American Cancer Society is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
