National Grid Completes Major Upgrade of Canada-New England Transmission Link

National Grid recently completed a major upgrade to its portion of a 960-mile, 450 kilovolt high-voltage direct-current, or HVDC, transmission system that has been delivering clean, carbon-free electricity from Canada to New England for the past 25 years. National Grid is the majority owner of the US portion of the system, which it operates on behalf of some 35 other energy providers. The $27 million project took approximately three years and was completed on time and on budget.

ECHO Early Learning Exhibit Receives Support From James M. Cox Foundation

ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain, is pleased to announce a $100,000 grant from the James M. Cox Foundation in support of its early learning science initiative Champ Lane. ECHO’s Champ Lane is a 2,200 square-foot exhibit and classroom designed to support early learners, educators and caregivers. The exhibit will serve as the platform for development of the critical STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) early learning focused curriculum.

Arrow Electronics Employees Conduct Clothing Drive to Benefit Central Arizona Shelter Services

Employees from Arrow Electronics’ Phoenix integration center collected and donated 3,887 items of clothing and personal-care items last month for Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS), a nonprofit organization established in 1984 to empower men, women and children with diverse needs to not only end their homelessness, but also rebuild their lives.

The Walmart Foundation provided support and training for more than 200,000 since the launch of our Global Women’s Economic Empowerment Initiative. Some of this work has been accomplished through programs aimed at the retail sector, such as our funding of the Chicago Cook County Workforce Partnerships. This work to enhance economic mobility in retail is particularly important to women, since over 50 percent of retail workers in the U.S. are women.

CITGO Contributes Volunteer Support to Camp Aranzazu in its Fifth Annual Care Day

Volunteers from CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery returned to Camp Aranzazu in Rockport for a fifth year to assist with cleanup and other efforts on the camp’s Annual Camp Care Day. Camp Aranzazu serves children and adults with special needs and chronic illnesses through therapeutic recreation at its barrier-free facility. With more than 100 acres of land and only one full-time maintenance staff member, the camp relies heavily on volunteers.
