Campaign: Connect21

Mark Hawke, Mayor of Gardner, MA, was probably speaking on behalf of a lot of people when he said, “It blew my mind when I found out that the only way National Grid knows that the power went out is if you call and tell them.

Cue grid modernization and a future when a customer’s meter will let us know they’ve lost power; when devices on electricity poles sense where an outage has occurred and re-route power to restore most customers in under a minute.

Join us in our Connect21 video series and feel the excitement of grid modernization generating from Dean Seavers, President, National Grid, Rita Moran, Stakeholder Engagement, MA National Grid, Mark Hawke, and others.

Our video series started with an overview of Connect21 and includes footage of the important infrastructure projects we are working on in each of our jurisdictions. Visit here to watch any you’ve missed. Here are a few more projects you can look forward to learning about:

- Clarkson University’s micro grid project in Upstate New York
- Worcester’s Smart Energy Solutions project in Massachusetts
- Downstate New York overview

We’ll feature a new video around every three weeks, so be sure to check back often. We hope you’ll give us your feedback in the comments section below as you take the series’ tour. The future of energy belongs to all of us, and we want to hear your voice.
