HARTFORD, Conn., Sept. 10, 2014 /3BL Media/ – More than 150 supply management employees and executives from across all United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) business units gathered today for an uncommon meeting. Dressed in jeans and bright blue t-shirts, colleagues gave back to the community with a day of scaffolding, framing and other work in support of Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity. During the day, UTC employees worked at all Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity build sites, including its ReStore warehouse facility in Bloomfield.

“UTC supports the communities in which our employees live and work, and partnering with programs like Habitat for Humanity is one way UTC encourages community growth and vitality,” said Benoit Brossoit, vice president, UTC Operations. “We are also continuously looking for ways to strengthen employee teams and increase collaboration within UTC and its business units. There is no better way to do this than through community activities where we not only build the framework for homes, but the framework for vibrant relationships.”

UTC Building & Industrial Systems has worked closely with Habitat for several years, contributing more than $800,000 and thousands of volunteer hours.

“Since 1998, United Technologies has sponsored more than 15 Habitat homes and every Hartford Habitat home has a boiler donated by Carrier,” said Karraine Moody, executive director, Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity. “In addition to the financial commitment, UTC employees volunteer throughout the year along with our homeowners and onsite staff.  Words cannot express our gratitude for UTC's commitment to our mission to increase affordable homeownership.”

Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity provides homes to more than 200 families in the Hartford area through volunteering and donations.
