Did you know that every 37 minutes, on average, Make-A-Wish® grants a wish to child with a life-threatening medical condition? In 2014 alone, more than 27,000 dedicated volunteers helped grant more than 14,200 wishes – wishes like Madi’s.

Madi, 15, who has cancer, wished to have a modeling portfolio. Madi’s mom, Farnaz, says that the wish experience restored her daughter’s confidence.

“I think it's so important that people understand that the gift of the wish does not end on the wish day,” says Farnaz. “No matter what the wish child receives, they take away memories that impact their lives.”

Make-A-Wish volunteers help grant wishes in a variety of ways, including being a wish granter, helping facilitate chapter events or utilizing their unique skills – photography, technology, construction, and more – to make wishes come true.

Madi, Farnaz, and other wish families know the special kind of effort and teamwork that goes into each wish, and the important role that Make-A-Wish volunteers fill.

“I thank not only Make-A-Wish for this gift, but ALL those who raised money, willing to share their talents, time and make a difference in the lives of so many children and their families,” says Farnaz. “Words don't seem to express the heartfelt gratitude we feel.”
