SolarCity and Walmart Renew Solar Partnership

What happens when America’s biggest solar power provider joins forces with one of the world’s largest retailers? A lot of solar power, that is, and an inspiration for other big business players to embrace sustainable energy.

SolarCity and Walmart have just announced a new round of projects that are part of an ongoing collaboration that started in 2010 Since then, it has yielded more than 200 solar projects at Walmart sites. The new four-year agreement will put more solar installations at facilities in up to 36 states in that period.

Although the collaboration may sound unlikely to those who are unfamiliar with it, there is much more to it than meets the eye. Solar City's mission is to spread solar power as far afield as possible, taking it to homes, businesses, schools, non-profits and government organizations at a lower price than they pay for fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas. It wants to change the market.
