Two-thirds of Americans Don’t Slow Down Around Garbage Trucks, National Waste & Recycling Association Survey Finds

Working closely with the National Waste & Recycle Association (NWRA) and local governments, Republic Services is pleased to announce that “Slow Down to Get Around” legislation has been enacted in eight states, including Virginia and Indiana. The new law requires drivers to change lanes, if possible, or slow down to at least 10 mph below the posted speed limit and past two feet to the left of stationary vehicles that are in the process of collecting waste or recycling. The law is effective July 1, 2015. This is good news for the entire waste and recycling industry.
