OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL,  December 16, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Redbox, America's destination for new-release entertainment, is giving the gift of entertainment this holiday season through a consumer promotion and charitable movie donation. Redbox is donating nearly 3,000 Blu-ray™ discs and DVDs to the Fisher House Foundation, whose program provides a network of comfort homes where military and veterans' families can stay at no cost while loved ones receive medical treatment. In addition, Redbox is giving out a promo code for a free movie night that everyone in the U.S. can use on Wednesday, December 17.

"The holidays are a great time to enjoy movies, and we're thrilled to share the joy with this terrific organization and with our loyal customers," said Mark Horak, president of Redbox. "Over the years, we've donated more than 340,000 movie nights and 15,000 DVDs to charities, non-profits and community organizations. We are excited to extend the tradition this year."

Fisher Houses across the country will receive the Redbox donations in time for the holidays, to help populate the movie libraries shared by families staying at these homes.

"At Fisher House Foundation, our goal is to aid in the recovery of service men and women, both physically and mentally," said Dave Coker, president of Fisher House Foundation. "We know our vets and their families will receive countless hours of enjoyment from these movies, all made possible by Redbox."

About Fisher House Foundation
Fisher House Foundation is best known for a network of comfort homes where military and veterans' families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. These homes are located at major military and VA medical centers nationwide, and in Europe, close to the medical center or hospital it serves. Fisher Houses have up to 21 suites, with private bedrooms and baths. Families share a common kitchen, laundry facilities, a warm dining room and an inviting living room. Fisher House Foundation ensures that there is never a lodging fee. Since inception, the program has saved military and veterans' families an estimated $235 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

Fisher House Foundation also operates the Hero Miles Program, using donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of injured service members as well as the Hotels for Heroes program using donated hotel points to allow family members to stay at hotels near medical centers without charge. The Foundation also manages a grant program that supports other military charities and scholarship funds for military children, spouses and children of fallen and disabled veterans.
