MADISON, N.J., Feb. 19, 2016 /3BL Media/ -- Quest Diagnostics (NYSE: DGX), the world's leading provider of diagnostic information services, today announced that it has been named one of the "World's Most Admired Companies" for 2016 by Fortune.

The annual Fortune "World's Most Admired Companies" survey ranked Quest Diagnostics third among 10 companies in the "Health Care: Pharmacy and Other Services" industry, a jump of two places from last year. Quest ranked in the top three in all of the nine categories in which companies are evaluated. Additionally, the company achieved the top ranking for people management and showed improvement from last year in seven of the nine categories.

"We are pleased to once again be honored along with a select group of companies," said Steve Rusckowski, President and CEO. "This recognition, along with our dramatic rise in nearly every key attribute, is due to the Everyday Excellence of our 44,000 employees who deliver diagnostic insights that inspire people to take action to improve health outcomes."

Fortune's "World's Most Admired Companies" list is based on surveys of 4,100 executives, directors and analysts who rated nearly 1,400 companies from 30 countries around the world. To create the industry lists, executives, directors, and analysts are asked to rate companies in their own industries on nine criteria:  innovation; people management; use of corporate assets; social responsibility; quality of management; financial soundness; long-term investment; quality of products and services; and global competitiveness.
