Potato producers turn to solar energy with help from PepsiCo UK

As part of its Road to Zero sustainability commitment, PepsiCo U.K. is spearheading an initiative to encourage its agricultural growing partners to reduce CO2 emissions and invest in renewable energy solutions for its farming operations.

Recently, a potato producer in the southern county of Hampshire, U.K., became the first grower affiliated with PepsiCo U.K. to install solar panels, which will power the potato graders and washers used to deliver the early season crop for Walkers.

Whitewater Potatoes fitted the panels on the roof of a new farm building. According to Whitewater Potatoes' owner Gavin Janaway, these panels can provide enough energy to power all of the equipment.
