TULSA, Okla., December 10, 2012 /3BL Media/  - Caelus announced today that it has started cooperation with NuTek International Inc. (NuTek). NuTek is providing Caelus expert subject matter information about ‘Ozone Laundry Systems‘. NuTek is a leading provider of ozone systems and has a wide range of products. This information is being integrated into the latest version of the CurrentState Sustainability Audit offered by Caelus.

“Ozone laundry systems are an exciting technology that eliminates many of the environmentally harmful effects of the laundry process.  It has applications in all businesses that provide laundry services, such as hotels, motels, health clubs, hospitals and many others,” said Anthony Gilbreath, Principal of Caelus. “We feel that it is important that all companies are aware of the cost and environmental benefits of this process.”

The NuTek International Inc. produces and sells commercial Ozone Laundry System. An Ozone Laundry System is a stand-alone system similar to a traditional laundry system, however it uses ozone (O3) in place of heat and harmful chemicals to clean laundry. The system is ideal for any  type of establishments that process large volumes of laundry such as hotels, motels, amusement parks, spa, gyms, medical facilities and many more.

How does it work?

Ozone reverts back to Oxygen by forming bonds with carbon forms (bacteria, virus etc) present in the wash water and thus acts as a catalyst for the chemicals in cold water rather than using hot water at 140-160 degrees to act as that catalyst.  This method has 3,000 times greater killing efficacy of bateria and virus than standard laundry procedures.  Every single fill of the machine kills as opposed to solely the "bleach" step in traditional washing. Ozone is oxygen (O2) with an extra atom of oxygen attached, thus forming O3. Ozone is formed naturally during a lightning storm. The creation of ozone is nature’s way of purifying the atmosphere, and is what gives clothesline dried linen that ‘‘fresh air’’ smell.

Cost savings

An Ozone Laundry System will deliver guaranteed cost savings in three important areas:

  • Cold water washing --- 95-100% reduction in natural gas
  • Reducing water used to wash by as much as 35%
  • Cutting your dryer time as much as 40-60%

Benefits for laundry

In its role as a powerful oxidant and biocide, ozone works in the context of commercial and industrial laundry wash rooms to boost the cleaning activity of the various chemicals and chemical compounds. It accomplishes this in several ways:

  • Replenishes oxygen in the wash water
  • Purifies the wash water
  • Works at ambient water temperature
  • Disinfects the wash water
  • Decomposes fats, oil and grease (FOG)
  • Reduces and Often Replaces Chlorine Bleach
  • Prevents Redeposition
  • Efficient Deodorizer
  • Improves fabric "look and feel"

Richard West, VP of Sales and Marketing commented, "NuTek International is the America’s only Ozone Laundry System provider committed to washing products in 100 percent cold water. We guarantee our customers savings in natural gas, water usage, and electrical usage. We pledge to lengthen linen life and create a better quality finished product. Benefits for the environment

Ozone is a non-toxic substitute for heat and toxic chemistry.  By using ozone, you almost completely eliminate the need to heat water, which results in a reduction of energy use. Most detergents contain oxygen-reducing substances (i.e. a chemical compound that readily transfers oxygen atoms) that may cause severe damage to the fish and marine animals. This may also lead to eutrophication. Eutrophication is a process by which a water body becomes enriched in dissolved nutrients (e.g., phosphates, calcium and magnesium).
