WASHINGTON, Oct. 22, 2014 /3BL Media/ — The National Waste & Recycling Association (NW&RA) today released the application for its prestigious 2015 Driver of the Year Awards (DOTY).

To access the online 2015 DOTY Awards application, visit www.wasterecycling.org/DOTY.

The DOTY Awards honor drivers who operate their waste collection vehicles in safe and responsible manners, who maintain outstanding performance records, and whose contributions have enhanced the overall image of the waste and recycling industry. The nomination deadline is Jan. 5, 2015.

NW&RA President and CEO Sharon H. Kneiss said that the program is one of the Association’s core values. “Our drivers are the core of this business, so it’s important to honor safe driving and the men and women who keep our industry moving. This program allows us to do both,” she said.

Since the program began, NW&RA has annually honored drivers in a number of categories. The program will recognize 2015 applicants in 10 categories:  Small Company, Medium Company, Regional Company Commercial, Regional Company Industrial, Regional Company Residential, Large Company Commercial, Large Company Industrial, Large Company Residential, Small Public Sector and Large Public Sector.

Qualified nominees must be full-time waste and/or recycling haulers at the time of nomination, selection and award presentation. The online application process helps ensure that nominators provide complete entries and that data is captured as efficiently, securely and accurately as possible. The system is structured to allow judges to evaluate the DOTY nominees without knowing their identities by assessing the data and information required for scoring.

The 2015 NW&RA DOTY program is underwritten by AWTI. Kneiss expressed her thanks to AWTI for its support of this important program. “Like our association, AWTI is committed to the safety of workers in the waste and recycling industry,” she said.

“Our company is committed to safety,” said AWTI president and CEO Darrick Reed. “We are honored to sponsor the recognition of drivers who embody our common goal to advance safety in our industry.”
