WALTHAM, MA October 1, 2019 /3BL Media/ - Today, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) released its 2019 State Energy Efficiency Scorecard, and National Grid’s  service area in three states — M.A., R.I., and N.Y.— all ranked among the top five states in energy efficiency.  Massachusetts ranked number one for the ninth year in a row, with R.I. ranked third, and N.Y. moving from sixth in 2018 to fifth this year.

“Energy efficiency programs and products are an easy and effective way for all of our 7 million customers across M.A., R.I., and N.Y. to participate in our clean energy transition,” said Dean Seavers, President of National Grid, U.S. “National Grid is proud that our energy efficiency programs reduced carbon emissions by over 1.1 million metric tons in 2018, the equivalent of removing over 233,000 cars off the road, a major step forward in achieving a deeply decarbonized energy future.”

National Grid is also proud to promote Energy Efficiency Day 2019 (#EEDay2019), which is tomorrow, October 2, 2019. In its fourth year, Energy Efficiency Day is an opportunity to showcase the benefits of efficiency. National Grid is urging customers to visit the #EEDay2019 website (www.energyefficiencyday.org) to learn ways to support national, state, and regional energy efficiency efforts by advocating on social media using the hashtag #EEDay2019 and with their elected officials.
