HARRISBURG, Pa., May 8, 2015 /3BL Media/ - Keystone Human Services (KHS) is proud to announce that Muriel Gabriel, a direct support professional (DSP) for Keystone Human Services, received the Pennsylvania Direct Support Professional Award from ANCOR (American Network of Community Options and Resources).

This annual award is given to a DSP who has been exemplary in their service to the mission of the nominating agency. Muriel was nominated by Keystone Human Services in recognition of her dedication to supporting people to reach their goals, pursue their interests, and live full lives in their community. She spends time learning each person’s abilities and interests, and becomes a passionate advocate for them.

Realizing the importance of soccer in one man’s life, she assured the continuity of his coaching career. For two women who had not been to the beach since their childhood, Muriel worked to make sure both women could sit at the ocean’s edge and feel the waves. When a new woman moved into the home, Muriel spent time learning about her interests and then made sure she got out into the community to pursue those interests.

KHS thanks Muriel for exceeding expectations every day and demonstrating what it means to “advance the human spirit” of every life she touches.

Muriel received her award at the ANCOR Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. on May 5, 2015. ANCOR is the national association of residential service providers who benefit people with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, and those experiencing mental illness.
