The U.S. Chamber Business Civic Leadership Center will host its 2010 Global Corporate Citizenship Conference titled “Frontier Markets. Global Partnerships. Local Solutions.” on September 27-29 in Washington, D.C.  

“The word ‘frontier’ is especially fitting for this conference,” said U.S. Chamber BCLC Global Corporate Citizenship Manager Taryn Bird. “Cutting-edge ideas and successful, innovative CSR practices dominate the agenda. Speakers and registrants alike represent organizations that truly have reached some of the most advanced achievements in global CSR.”    A snapshot of the conference includes:  

  •  A keynote address by Doc Hendley, founder of Wine to Water and a 2009 CNN Hero. Take a sneak peek of Hendley in this video.

  • An address by the Pakistani foreign minister, The Honorable Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who will relay his first-hand experiences with the historic flooding in his country and describe the challenges in the response efforts.

  • Industry-specific group exercises focused on extractives, pharmaceuticals, ICT, and three additional sectors. Participants will be given a challenge and will work together with other attendees to develop a new idea for a public-private partnership that can overcome the challenge.

  • A special report on Haiti, where first-hand accounts will be given by corporate and NGO leaders who accompanied the U.S. Chamber BCLC on a fact-finding delegation trip to Haiti in June. They will share what they learned in terms of opportunities for the U.S. private sector to be involved with long-term recovery and the re-birth of Haiti.

  • 40 Under 40, a new release by Devex and Chevron, this list presents the Washington area’s best and the brightest global development professionals under the age of 40.
