JetBlue Sponsors NBA Basketball Without Borders in SDQ

Sep 3, 2015 11:00 AM ET

This year, we were the proud sponsor of the NBA and FIBA's Basketball without Borders (BWB) development and community outreach program. Each summer the program invites talented young basketball players

At the camp, Houston Rockets player, Corey Brewer; Atlanta Hawks player, Al Horford of the Dominican Republic; Philadelphia 76ers player, Luc Mbah a Moute; former Dominican Republic national team player, Felipe Lopez, and Dallas Mavericks player, Charlie Villanueva - whose parents are from the Dominican Republic, teamed up to help 51 young athletes train to compete against the best players from North and South America. In addition, the campers learned life skills on leadership and communication, and the importance of teamwork in achieving your goals on and off the court. Our participation in the event included providing air travel for the NBA to SDQ. At the conclusion of the event, we presented the High Flyer Award to one outstanding athlete.

Since 2001, the NBA and FIBA have organized 41 BWB camps in 23 cities in 20 countries on five continents.
