NORTH ADAMS, Mass., April 24, 2019 /3BL Media/ — Integrated Eco Strategy (IES) and Toxnot announce a new partnership designed to integrate their respective materials transparency platforms. This partnership enables manufactures to quickly and efficiently share building product ingredient data and meet the requirements of certifications such as the Living Building Challenge (LBC) and Declare in new, powerful ways. Both companies are partners with the International Living Future Institute (ILFI), an environmental NGO that administers the LBC, the world’s most rigorous proven performance standard for buildings.

The partnership of IES and Toxnot streamlines the LBC certification process and substantially improves manufacturers’ ability to upload, share and utilize their most up-to-date product ingredient data. Manufacturers and their suppliers will see reduced overlap in reporting requests.  Toxnot allows users to respond to LBC requests as well as multiple other reporting formats such as Declare, HPD, and LEED, all from the same interface without reentering data.

IES offers material/product research support for building projects via Red2Green (R2G), their proprietary healthy materials database. Toxnot provides product manufacturers with a single platform to efficiently manage product disclosures in various program formats. Inclusion in the R2G database helps companies raise the industry profile of their healthy building products.

ILFI selected Toxnot as the software platform for the creation of Declare Labels, the fastest growing standard for reporting on product transparency. ILFI has endorsed R2G as a neutral platform for efficient materials research, available by subscription to all project teams, including independent sustainability consultants.

Both organizations are dedicated to tackling the key barriers to chemical transparency in the building sector. Technology-driven solutions like Toxnot’s platform improve user experience, workflows and data quality so project managers and manufacturers have confidence in the chemical hazard information that goes into products and buildings. Integration with IES takes the process a step further, creating an end-to-end pathway to LBC certification, and ultimately to an industry shift towards greater sustainability and less risk.

Environmental leaders such as Williams College, an institution focused on driving transparency in the built environment, use these tools to enhance their building projects.

“This collaboration benefits the entire healthier building products industry, by fostering manufacturer engagement as it lowers project teams’ research costs and accelerates market transformation,” said Amy Johns, director of Williams College’s Zilkha Center for Environmental Initiatives. “Toxnot gives manufacturers an opportunity for comprehensive results with less effort, while Red2Green puts this disclosure information into users’ hands, providing expanded product options and enhancing our advocacy for better ingredients.”

“Toxnot specializes in serving manufacturers, while R2G assists project teams pursing LBC materials compliance,” said Charley Stevenson, IES owner and principal. “This partnership increases efficiency at every step, and integrates our platforms into a live, manageable and publishable database.”

“Product manufacturers are investing heavily in product transparency and this partnership really enhances their ability to get that data into the hands of architects and specifiers,” said Pete Girard, Toxnot Founder and CEO.

About IES

IES was founded in 2010 to provide client-focused, high-value green building services. To facilitate materials compliance, IES created Red2Green (R2G), a database and platform for healthy building materials evaluation, selection and management. R2G standardizes the process for gathering, reporting and comparing ingredient and emissions information on products used in all facets of new building and renovation. Users include building owners, architects, contractors, consultants and materials specialists. Recent IES projects include the Class of 1966 Environmental Center at Williams College, Williamstown; R.W. Kern Center at Hampshire College, and Hitchcock Center for the Environment, both in Amherst; and Yale Divinity School Campus, New Haven CT.
