OAKLAND, Calif., April 23, 2019, /3BL Media/ – Today, Fair Trade USA unveils its first ever lookbook, We Wear Fair Trade. Made in partnership with renowned fashion director, activist, and stylist Rachael Wang, the lookbook features exclusively Fair Trade Certified™ apparel modeled by contemporary human and environmental rights advocates. Debuting during Fashion Revolution Week (April 22 - 28) the We Wear Fair Trade campaign honors the Rana Plaza garment factory collapse in Bangladesh that killed 1,134 people.  Each image showcases an array of Fair Trade USA brand partners -- Athleta, Aventura, Ecoths, J.Crew, Madewell, Obey Clothing, Outerknown, Patagonia -- in an effort to raise awareness about the growing collection of fair trade apparel while showcasing the stories of the producers behind the clothes themselves.

Photographed by Justin French, the We Wear Fair Trade lookbook highlights the Fair Trade Certified™ seal that is sewn into all certified apparel, empowering consumers to shop their values and to choose clothing from factories that treat workers with dignity, respect, and a voice in their own workplace.

“Until the fair trade apparel program was launched nearly a decade ago, shoppers had no real way of knowing the conditions under which their clothes were made,” said Maya Spaull Johnson, VP of Apparel and Home Goods at Fair Trade USA. “Now we are empowered to buy clothes with the label and know that we’re helping create sustainable livelihoods, safer working conditions, and desperately-needed transparency in the fashion industry.”

In honor of the campaign, Fair Trade USA has created a We Wear Fair Trade campaign hub featuring the stories behind each of the lookbook models and factory employees.  Additionally, a fair trade shopping guide offers a collection of promo codes to support shoppers looking to build to their own fair trade wardrobes.
