SuiteImpact, NetSuite's Hands-On Volunteerism

NetSuite's Volunteer Time Off policy gives all employees 16 hours of paid time to volunteer in their local communities. In this post, one NetSuite employee shares how volunteerism has helped him forge connections with colleagues and give back to his community.

From Oct 17-21, thousands of NetSuite employees from around the world will show their commitment to making a positive impact in their communities during Global Impact Week, NetSuite’s annual week of service.

Close to 1,000 NetSuite employees recently participated in “Get Moving for Charity”, a charity wellness competition that encouraged employees to walk and run on behalf of one of four charities.

NetSuite believes that passionate employees build a thriving company, and our employee volunteer programs were designed to provide opportunities for our employees to give back locally and globally. To this end, every NetSuite employee receives 16 hours of VTO annually which can be used toward employee-organized activities or personal volunteering. Over the course of SuiteWorld, NetSuite's annual customer conference, more than 600 attendees packed 86,832 meals which will be delivered to organizations serving youth in the developing world.

When we think about volunteering at NetSuite, we often focus on the fun and meaningful parts of the experience —­ from getting to work side-by-side with colleagues we may have never met before to serving a hot meal to someone in our community.

What often gets overlooked amidst the excitement of each new experience is the hard work that goes into putting each activity together. Each event involves so much time and effort, on details such as finding the local community organization and ensuring that the event is a success for both the nonprofit and the volunteers.

And while every ambassador deserves to be recognized for their hard work and dedication, this blog post is specifically dedicated to celebrating Laura Bowman, the SuiteImpact Ambassador at Bronto Software in Durham.
