The outstanding performance of CLP Holdings (CLP) in corporate governance and reporting continues to win strong recognition as the Company’s 2019 Annual Report, Annual Report Online Snapshot and 2019 Sustainability Report received coveted awards in Hong Kong and overseas.

In the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accounts (HKICPA) Best Corporate Governance Awards 2020 earlier this month, CLP once again received the most coveted Platinum Award of the Corporate Governance Awards and the Sustainability and Social Responsibility Reporting Award in the Hang Seng Index category. The Company also took home the Outstanding Achievement Award, a special honour for its exceptional performance over the past two decades since the contest started.

“CLP consistently sets the benchmark of best practice in Hong Kong and is the only company that has been recommended for an award every year since the Best Corporate Governance Awards was inaugurated in 2000,” said judges of the Awards.

In the IR Magazine Awards – Greater China 2020 announced today, CLP won the Best Annual Report (Large Cap) Award and the Best ESG Materiality Reporting (Large Cap) Award.

In addition, for the 16th time since 2001, CLP won the Best Report Award at the Hong Kong Management Association’s (HKMA) Best Annual Reports Awards. It also clinched the Sustainability Reporting Award in the General category and the HKMA 60th Anniversary Judges’ Special Award.

“[CLP’s] report continued to be innovative and all-round with integrated communication of sustainability initiatives, demonstrating professionalism in terms of design, disclosure and value creation for stakeholders,” said the HKMA Best Annual Reports Awards judges.

Mr Richard Lancaster, Chief Executive Officer of CLP, said, “At CLP, we attach immense importance to good corporate governance and reporting practices, which we believe are essential for communicating our vision and strategy to our stakeholders and gaining their support on our energy transition journey.

“We are honoured to receive this recognition and the credit goes to many CLP colleagues who showed dedication and hard work in producing these high-standard reports in spite of the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic this year.”

Earlier this year, CLP received the Gold Award in the Australasian Reporting Awards 2020 for its Annual Report, while the Online Snapshot won the Special Award for Online Reporting and the Sustainability Report was named Sustainability Report of the Year. Altogether, CLP’ 2019 Annual Report, the Annual Report Online Snapshot and the 2019 Sustainability Report have snatched over 60 local and international awards in prestigious contests.

Meanwhile, a US$350 million bond issued by Castle Peak Power Company Limited (CAPCO), a joint venture of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited and China Southern Power Grid International (HK) Co., Ltd., under CLP’s Climate Action Finance Framework was recently named the Best Energy Transition Bond by the Asset magazine, which said the transaction “demonstrates the company’s climate-related commitments across operations and financing”.
