Emerging research demonstrates that local, independently owned businesses generate more than three times the return to our local economy than do national chain stores.  In fact, several studies have shown that when you buy from an independent, locally owned business, rather than nationally owned businesses, significantly more of your money is used to make purchases from other local businesses, service providers and farms -- continuing to strengthen the economic base of the community.    As mentioned in our eco friendly consulting, consider:   • Local businesses produce more income, jobs, and tax receipts for local communities.  For every $100 you spend at one of our local businesses, $68 will stay in the community. • Local businesses are more likely to utilize local ads, banks and other services. • Local businesses donate more money to nonprofits and are more accountable to their local communities. • Supporting local businesses preserves the economic diversity of our communities and the unique character of our neighborhoods. • Supporting local businesses is good for the environment, because it cuts down on fuel consumption.

The benefits of spending more money within our own communities are far-reaching. Click here to learn why buying local matters.
