CAMPAIGN: Building the Future of Mobility (2013)

CONTENT: Article

Markets outside our home markets are crucial to our future success as a business. In the coming years, our target is to increase our share of the revenues coming from markets outside Western Europe and North America.

We want to position ourselves to readily identify and capitalize on business opportunities in these markets and to meet the growing transportation needs of their billions of inhabitants. To do this, we need to be engaged members of local communities.

When we think about growing local roots, we think not only about how to function more effectively on the ground and be more responsive to our customers, but also about how to best operate in a region for the long-term. Our strategy is to establish a foundation for long-term regional success by:

  • Hiring locallyIdentifying and cultivating local talent enables us to operate most effectively and profitably, as well as to understand the culture where we are established.
  • Sourcing locally: Many products go into our planes and trains, and not all of them can be found in every market. But often we can work with local suppliers to meet our production needs. When this is possible, it saves costs and helps build the local industry and economy.
  • Supporting local communitiesOur level of productivity in any location is directly affected by the quality of life in the surrounding community. Supporting our communities through engaged partnerships fortifies our current and future workforce and helps to create a long-term future for Bombardier in the region.

By taking this approach, we believe we can both grow our business and help build the economies and infrastructures of growing markets around the world.
