BERLIN, March 10, 2015 /3BL Media/ – Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation, together with Alstom Transport, Deutsche Bahn, Knorr Bremse, Nederlandse Spoorwegen and SNCF, officially launched the Railsponsible initiative on March 4th in Utrecht, The Netherlands. This new global initiative is focused on improving sustainability and transparency throughout the entire rail procurement supply chain.

Due to its size, the rail industry has a vast supply chain with a high potential for environmental and social impact. Railsponsible is therefore an effort to mitigate this risk and ensure that members maintain responsible best practices by assessing supplier’s sustainability performance.

The launch event on March 4 explored the unique opportunities and challenges of the railway industry global supply chain and how a collaborative initiative can drive the continuous improvement of sustainability practices of the value chain. The six founding members signed the charter to officially launch Railsponsible and invited other companies and suppliers in the rail industry to join.

Railsponsible is open to all railway operators and companies across the railway industry value chain, along with key industry associations that share its vision, mission and commitments.
