Baseball Dreams Come True for New England Veterans

CVS Health and the Boston Red Sox saluted veterans from across New England by inviting them to Fenway Park to participate in a CVS Health Baseball Camp — an opportunity to work with Boston Red Sox hitting coaches on their batting skills and enjoy a day of activities that allowed them to get up close and personal with America’s most beloved ballpark. CVS Health and the Boston Red Sox began hosting veterans at the annual CVS Health Baseball Camps in 2010.

Veterans received batting tips from Boston Red Sox Hitting Coach Chili Davis and Assistant Hitting Coach Victor Rodriguez in the Red Sox batting cage, got to take a few swings at the Green Monster and enjoyed lunch in the Red Sox dugout. Participants were also provided exclusive access to the historic ballpark during a VIP tour and received tickets to the evening’s game against the Los Angeles Angels.

The participating veterans are from two New England-based veterans’ organizations:

  • New England Center and Home for Veterans: A private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to ending homelessness for our nation’s veterans.

  • 1st Lieutenant Derek Hines Soldiers Assistance Foundation: A fund that provides financial assistance for Massachusetts soldiers and families who have incurred career-ending and life-altering injuries while on active duty.
