(3BL Media) London - August 20, 2012 - Over the past year, AccountAbility has been paving the way for the formation of the AA1000 Standards Board to further enhance the independent stewardship of the AA1000 Standards on behalf of the global multi-stakeholder community. Today, AccountAbility is pleased to announce the formation of the Nominating Committee that will lead the selection of the new Standards Board. This important milestone follows the public consultation period on the Terms of Reference for the Standards Board and the Nomination Process, which were presented to the stakeholder community at the end of June 2012.

The Nominating Committee consists of four individuals with deep experience in the fields of sustainability, voluntary standards, governance and multi-stakeholder collaboration. These individuals have built and run global standards organisations and are highly familiar with the AA1000 Standards. This experience will guide them in their selection of a board that can effectively lead the advancement of the Standards in the years ahead.   Working in an individual capacity, the members of Nominating Committee will lead an open call for nominations and complete the selection process with the goal of having the new Standards Board in place by the end of September 2012. Stakeholder representation will be a key criteria as well as capacity to proactively drive the strategy and stewardship of the Standards to advance their leadership and adoption. Once the Standards Board is announced, the role of the Nominating Committee will have been completed.   “I am delighted that momentum is building towards the new Board and enhancing the leadership of the Standards,” said Anant Nadkarni, Vice President – Group Corporate Sustainability, Tata Group, and former Chairman of the Interim Standards Board for the AA1000 Standards. “I wish the Nominating Committee well in executing their important agenda.”   Details on the Nominating Committee and on the nomination process may be accessed here.   About AccountAbility Since 1995, AccountAbility has been working with corporations, non-profits and governments to embed responsible and sustainable policies and practices into their organisations through leading-edge research, widely-recognised standards and strategic advisory services.
