At the 12th Annual Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) Awards, Old Mutual was presented with the Presidential Award in the Game Changers category “The Company with Significant Progress towards Transformation”.

Guests at last week’s gala event included SARB Governor Lesetja Kganyago, Deputy Minister of Finance, Mcebisi Jonas, and former SARB Governor Tito Mboweni.

Ralph Mupita, CEO of Old Mutual Emerging Markets, says this accolade is a vote of confidence in Old Mutual’s ongoing commitment to socio-economic change in South Africa. “We believe that an important end goal for South Africa is that the wealth, ownership and leadership of financial services firms mirror the demographics of South Africa, and that the National Development Plan is delivered. It is also vital to encourage the participation of more black women as important role players in the financial services industry.

“In accepting this award we also want to thank ABSIP for the role they are playing in driving transformation. The work is far from done, and we all need to play our part to make that end goal real.”

Tryphosa Ramano, President of ABSIP, says the award acknowledges the various initiatives of Old Mutual. “We salute Old Mutual for their commitment to transformation. They continue to make a significant impact on promoting the representation and empowerment of black professionals and black business in the financial services industry. Old Mutual has clearly influenced change and transformation in this sector.”

ABSIP was established to promote the empowerment of black professionals and black business across the South African financial services industry.
