You're running a business and you want to do it right. That means bringing your environmental and social performance in line for a healthier bottom line.  You are asking questions such as, "Are we taking advantage of the sustainable business strategies available to our business to increase productivity?  What actions have we taken to reduce our environmental footprint?  How do we plan to celebrate Earth Day?"

With Earth Day quickly approaching, now may the perfect time to revisit traditional business plans and strategies.  Greening your office can be a road map for a company to truly differentiate itself in an increasingly competitive and consumer conscious market.  It is also an opportunity to communicate to stakeholders and the broader business world that the company is headed in a positive direction, responsive to change, and committed to addressing current expectations.   Sounds great, but many get stuck in the "how to" and "where to get started."  Following are three easy steps to green your office.  Do them today, and you are on your way:

Step 1: Education and Awareness:
With endless information available, it's easy to get lost in a sea of green.  Make it easy.  Subscribe to a trusted newsletter such as the Wave Maker.  When you sign up for The Wave Maker, you’ll receive up-to-date information about green news, product innovation, workplace greening, as well as unique tips and tricks to help you live a more sustainable lifestyle.  It's an easy first step, and you can do it now - click here to subscribe and get your business on the path to sustainability.

Step 2: Make every day purchases count.  If you have an office, chances are you purchase paper, pens, toner, organizers, day timers, etc.  Make your purchases work for you and the planet.  Dolphin Blue's Make Green Waves at Work program offers post consumer recycled paper and other materials in their product lines that slows depletion of forest resources, extends landfill life, reduces energy consumption and emissions, and, subsequently, lessens the effects of global warming.  Click here to read more about greening your office.
