The report —following the Global Reporting Initiative’s indicators — highlights the company’s social, economic and environmental performance, and provides a snapshot of achievements to date. It also identifies areas for improvement and sets out plans for the coming year. This is the second consecutive year the agency has constructed and published a CR report.

Since 1983, Waggener Edstrom Worldwide’s commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainability has been a building block of its business. The company devotes 1 percent of its annual pretax revenue to community engagement activities, pro bono services and charitable giving. In 2009, WE contributed nearly $1.08 million in donations and services. Since 2008, WE has also made significant operational improvements and achieved a 19 percent reduction in its carbon footprint.   “We believe that reporting on our commitments and progress in the areas of corporate responsibility and sustainability is an important chapter in our story and imperative to being transparent and accountable to our employees, clients, partners and the community,” said Melissa Waggener Zorkin, WE’s founder and CEO. “As an agency on a mission to give voice to innovation and propel authentic and sustainable change, we’re committed to delivering measurable value for individuals, clients and communities, and to having a positive impact in our work and actions.”   “Waggener Edstrom Worldwide has truly distinguished itself as one of the top professional service firms in the world in its commitment to sustainability,” said Kevin Wilhelm, CEO of Sustainable Business Consulting. “The agency recently completed its third carbon footprint analysis and second annual CR report, and has implemented numerous sustainability actions that live up to this leadership in its most recent CR report.
