October 1, 2013 /3BL Media/ - VolunteerMatch, the Web’s largest volunteer engagement network, and The Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation, a nonprofit organization formed by global cloud-based talent management leader Cornerstone OnDemand, today announced a new partnership to provide VolunteerMatch training content to nonprofits through the Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation’s Gift of Learning program.

The CSOD Foundation established the Gift of Learning program (GOL) to address the critical need for professional development in the nonprofit world. The GOL leverages CSOD’s state-of-the-art learning technology to create an online career development tool that provides nonprofit employees and volunteers with access to a free collection of e-learning and other training resources provided by industry experts.  With the additional content from VolunteerMatch, Gift of Learning will include trainings on volunteer program assessment, engaging pro bono and skilled volunteers, and creating volunteer handbooks, among other topics.

The Foundation will also be teaming up with VolunteerMatch to make the Gift of Learning available to a select group of VolunteerMatch’s nonprofit members, providing these nonprofit professionals with access to a broad spectrum of on-demand nonprofit management topics.

“Due to limited resources and the lack of funding for human capital needs, the nonprofit sector faces significant challenges in developing, managing and retaining their talent,” said Julie Brandt, executive director of the Cornerstone OnDemand Foundation. “Our goal with the Gift of Learning is to help nonprofits invest in their people so they can more effectively deliver on their organization’s mission.”

“Effective volunteer engagement is not easy,” said Greg Baldwin, president of VolunteerMatch. “This partnership will provide leading nonprofits with the e-learning resources they need to expand the strategic impact of their volunteers.”
