Union Pacific Railroad recently transferred control of the historic MKT Bridge to the City of Boonville, Mo. Once rehabilitated, the 80-year-old, 1,615-foot-long lift span bridge will become part of the Katy Trail, which at 237 miles is the United States' longest completed rail-to-trail conversion. The city also intends to keep the bridge's lift span operational so it can be used as an event venue and for educational purposes.
